10 Ways to Take Stunning Portraits
I was reading 31 Days to Build a Better Blog and I really enjoyed the link they provided to the 10 Ways to Take Stunning Photos. So I decided to take pictures of own in these 10 ways and have fun with it. Here are the pictures below...
1. I Altered My Prospective
By taking pictures at different angles I was able to capture more of a unique picture than just the normal stand up and say cheese picture. My dog was a good sport and I enjoyed learning the process.
A. Looking Off Camera - The snowman is looking off camera and it gives the subject more of a mystery or the illusion that there is some deep thoughts going on.
3. I Broke The Rules of Composition
The Rule of Thirds is one that can be effective to break – placing your subject either dead centre can sometimes create a powerful image – or even creative placement with your subject right on the edge of a shot can sometimes create interesting images.
4. I Experimented with Lighting
I love the lighting from the moon just as it begins to get dark. The clouds are highlighted from the sun.
This shot took some time as I kept shooting and missing the jump into the leaves. Action shots are hard if you aren't used to taking the photo. I think they were in their comfort zone though as they love to jump:) It was fun, and the more photos we took the better the shot.
Here I took a photo of a baby cow and Mommy cow in the trees. I think Candid shots are fun because they are unexpected and you can get true feelings in the shot.
I really love the picture from the article of the girl and the blown up bubble gum. Here is a picture of a cool bird that will sit on your hand if you give it a sweet drink. I will eventually take a picture like that bubble gum one but I'll have to practice the angle.
8. I Focused on One Body Part and Got Up Close
I think Hands are so unique and represent the bonding time we have with our children. I read that you should try and hold your child's hand for 60 seconds to make a great impact.
9. I Obscured Part of The Face for the Picture
I think everyone should try this photo once in their lives. It was really neat how the eyes just pop and how much focus is given to them.
10. I Took a Series of Shots
This was my final set of photos and it was a bit of a challenge as I had to figure out how the camera took rapid photos and then create the layout.
So I completed the quick Portrait Experience and would highly recommend it to you if you'd like to get your camera going and into action. I will hopefully take a fun photo class sometime as I just recently found a photographer that offers classes online. Blogs are great so that you can get some many free ideas and share so many unique experiences.
